Redeeming the Reclusive Earl

His heart is a fortress… And she’s trespassing!
After losing all he holds dear in a horrific fire, Max Aldersley, Earl of Rivenhall, shuns the world—until he catches Effie Nithercott digging holes on his estate! He banishes the intrepid archaeologist and the unsettled feelings she rouses within him. But she returns even more determined and infuriatingly desirable than before! He wonders just how deep she’s prepared to dig—so far she’ll reach the man beneath his scars?

Oh, Max… Virginia Heath does have a knack of creating amazing heroes, and Max, Earl of Rivenhall, is no exception. But, despite doing his utmost to shun the world, he meets his match in Effie Nithercott (and I did so love the way he kept renaming her during every conversation!), a woman who faces enough of her own struggles.

I found Effie an interesting heroine. She’s fighting her own battles, desperate to share with the world the wonderful findings and discoveries she is making, shedding new light on local history, but is blocked from doing so by a ridiculous system which simply cannot understand her. She’s passionate, driven, and, when it comes to Max, a driving force. And boy does he need driving… The way his backstory is brought out mirrored his own gradual release of information to Effie, and I truly felt for him, with the suffering he had gone through. It wasn’t until towards the end of the book I quite twigged how recent the events which turned him into a recluse were, which really sharpened it all for me.

Reading these two spark off each other was an absolute delight, and to indicate just how addictive it was – the second night of reading, I woke up at 0100, couldn’t sleep, and thought “just one quick chapter”… My alarm scared the life out of me at 0630!

I would highly recommend this to those who love an addictive historical romance, as this most definitely is.

About Virginia

A Warriner To Seduce Her - Virginia Heath

When Virginia Heath was a little girl it took her ages to fall asleep, so she made up stories in her head to help pass the time while she was staring at the ceiling. As she got older, the stories became more complicated, sometimes taking weeks to get to the happy ending. Then one day, she decided to embrace the insomnia and start writing them down. Despite that, it still takes her forever to fall asleep.
