Wish You Were Here
Last January, myself and other members of Victoria Watson’s Elementary Writers braved the ‘brisk’ sea air and headed over to St Mary’s Lighthouse to record a podcast of poetry and prose all about the great coastal area that most of us call home. That event led to a great reading at the building of the Tynemouth Volunteer Lifeboat Brigade (TVLB), which I have to say was one of the nicest crowds I’ve ever read in front of. Oddly, also the only entirely sober crowd I’d read to, at that time! It’s changed now!
Anyway, that reading in itself led to the creation of a fabulous collection, entitled Wish You Were Here, and we’re all delighted to be heading back to the TVLB this Sunday, for the collection’s official launch. Click here to head on over to Facebook to find out how to get your ticket.
My own contribution to the collection, a poem, is about one of my family’s favourite photos, and giving it a chance to get out ‘into the wild’ is great, as it brings back lovely memories of my grandparents and visiting the coast as a child. I hope, if you come along on Sunday, you’ll enjoy hearing it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
See you there…
