NaPoWriMo 2016 – (Day Eleven)

By Lake Malawi

I saw my first shooting star,
felt even its static cousins
were new, to my unveiled eyes.

Morning and night, watching the sky,
perfect reflections of sun and moon
in the stillness of the Lake.

The peace was contagious,
disrupted only by the ripples
of incongruous rain showers.

I watched the rain fall in Africa;
I knew I didn’t belong.
